Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and administrating the company’s, payroll and benefits programs for hourly and salaried staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Full cycle bi-weekly payroll, for 400+ union and non-union employees, including all related documentation, queries and reports. Also process rate changes, retroactive payments and wage garnishments remittance)
- Transactional processing of US payroll
- Government reporting – WCB remittance, EHT, Record of Employment etc
- Ensure compliance and up-to-date payroll legislation with BC labors laws regarding payments, terminations etc.
- Month end processing and payroll journal entries
- Process new hires and terminations
- Produce various Payroll/HR related reports extracting data from Payroll and Time and Attendance software using Crystal Reports
- Administer Canadian Benefits (extended health, dental, disability, life) including reconciliation of invoices
- Process and deliver reporting metrics on a weekly and monthly basis
- Year end processing
- Maintain time and attendance system for hourly employees including accruals
- Other HR duties as required
