Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and administrating the company’s, payroll and benefits programs for hourly and salaried staff.
 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Full cycle bi-weekly payroll,  for 400+ union and non-union employees, including all related documentation, queries and reports.  Also process rate changes, retroactive payments and wage garnishments remittance)
  • Transactional processing of US payroll 
  • Government reporting – WCB remittance, EHT, Record of Employment etc
  • Ensure compliance and up-to-date payroll legislation with BC labors laws regarding payments, terminations etc.
  • Month end processing and payroll journal entries
  • Process new hires and terminations
  • Produce various Payroll/HR related reports extracting data from Payroll and Time and Attendance software using Crystal Reports
  • Administer Canadian Benefits (extended health, dental, disability, life) including reconciliation of invoices
  • Process and deliver reporting metrics on a weekly and monthly basis 
  • Year end processing
  • Maintain time and attendance system for hourly employees including accruals 
  • Other HR duties as required
