ME - Costing Engineer

The main tasks of the Costing Engineer are:

Technical Data Analysis & Extraction

• Analyze customer drawings, specifications, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Extract and structure relevant costing parameters from engineering data.
• Interpret electrical harness drawings, cable assembly drawings and manufacturing requirements.
• Identify key cost drivers including materials, labor content, complexity factors and production constraints.
• Build and maintain costing databases derived from historical and customer data.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of technical assumptions used in quotations.

Cost Estimation & Industrial Analysis

• Develop detailed product cost estimates for RFQs and new business opportunities.
• Calculate material requirements, manufacturing hours and industrial costs.
• Validate assumptions with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Purchasing teams.
• Support profitability analysis and business case preparation.
• Perform should-cost analyses and benchmark evaluations.

Costing Tool Development & Maintenance

• Own and maintain costing tools and costing databases.
• Develop, improve and standardize Excel-based costing models.
• Ensure data reliability, version control and documentation of costing methodologies.
• Support users and provide training on costing tools.
• Continuously improve costing processes and estimation accuracy.

Automation & Digitalization

• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive costing activities.
• Develop automated solutions using digital tools (Excel, VBA, IA …)
• Reduce manual workload through process simplification and data integration.
• Improve quotation lead time through digitalization initiatives.
• Support implementation of future AI- and data-driven costing methodologies.
