Logistics Supervisor

I. IDENTIFICATION

JOB TITLE: Logistics Supervisor

II. ROLE                                                                                                               

Latecoere Aerostructure Canada (Avcorp Industries Inc.) manufactures and integrates aerospace structures in Delta. The Logistics Supervisor leads union employees in Shipping, Receiving and Receiving Inspection. Reports to Procurement Manager and coordinates material movement, staffing and priorities to meet production, customer delivery, safety, quality and cost requirements. The expected salary range for this position is $75,000–$85,000 per year. Placement within the range will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.

III. MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

SECTION 1

• Supervise material handlers receiving and recording shipments, preparing outbound goods and loading or unloading vehicles.
• Coordinate Receiving Inspection staff and priorities so supplier products are inspected and moved to Stores promptly under approved quality procedures.
• Manage internal transport from dock to stock and stock to dock; align daily work with production schedules, shortages and supplier quality needs.
• Control freight, duty and brokerage costs against budget, support carrier consolidation and maintain appropriate shipping-supply stock levels.

SECTION 2

• Maintain applicable CTPAT processes, shipping and receiving procedures and accurate status updates for Supply Chain and Operations.
• Coach employees, maintain timekeeping and attendance records and undertake authorized hiring, performance and disciplinary actions with HR.
• Improve productivity and 5S practices, support incident investigations and develop safe, effective processes and working conditions.

IV. SAFETY, COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE

• Ensure safe material handling and authorized equipment operation; report hazards, support investigations and coordinate corrective actions.
• Maintain traceability, security and customs records under approved procedures. Receiving Inspection decisions must follow Quality requirements and delegated acceptance authority.

V. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

• On-time shipping and timely receipt-to-stock processing.
• Shipping, receiving and inventory transaction accuracy.
• Freight, duties and brokerage costs against approved budgets.
• Safety action closure, team productivity and receiving backlog.

VI. AUTHORITY

• Assign work and supervise Shipping, Receiving and Receiving Inspection.
• Manage personnel actions within delegation and collective agreement requirements.
• Coordinate carriers and supplies within approved spending limits.

VII. DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prioritize material movement by production and delivery requirements.
• Allocate employees and resolve routine shipping or receiving issues.
• Escalate quality holds, safety concerns and service or budget exceptions.

VIII. REQUIREMENTS

• At least four years of Shipping and Receiving experience and thorough knowledge of the function; experience supervising multiple union employees.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage changing priorities and maintain effective employee relations.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements and proficiency with Excel and Office; Nadcap and ISO quality-system experience is an asset.
• Lean, 5S and Six Sigma implementation experience is preferred; ability to meet applicable controlled-goods and export-control requirements for military programs.
